Great Z Card Example for Child Actor

Had a wonderful shoot this past weekend with a very neat family and their actor child who needed some new head-shots for upcoming auditions. We decided to shoot on location in downtown Redlands, CA in order to do this project. The on-location vs. Studio is always a question for most actors. My philosophy and the idea that I try to foster is that when your using great lighting on-location, any talent scout or casting director doesn't have to use their imagination placing you into a real setting. "They actually see you in a real location" like a magazine shoot or an actual paying job will do for you. Oftentimes you'll see an established actor with the high-key, "white" background or low-key, "black" background. There is definately a place for this type of in-studio shot. But in reality, they already have the job. If you want more call-backs and more actual paying jobs, try doing Z-cards with shots on-location, so they can see you in a real setting on a real shoot.
